Day Shift starring Jaime Foxx was crap?

Jamie Foxxand Dave Franco star in the vampire hunting movie "Day Shift". The movie tells the story of a blue collar dad trying to provide a better life for his young daughter. However, his routine job in San Fernando Valley pool cleaning is a disguise for his true income, hunting down and killing vampires as part of an International Union of Viper Hunters.

The premise sounds interesting, but can J.J. Perry deliver the goods?

Jamie Foxx's opening scene in Day Shift is an action sequence that sees him shotgun blasting an old lady who turns to be a Vampire. It then leads into a nuts fight between the pair that is so much fun. I felt that the movie had a lot of fun using this type of ragdoll Physics in its action sequences, which makes them pop in an action scene that many other Netflix action movies or action blockbusters don't. It's hard not to think of the old adage about how "action speaks louder than words" when watching a scene like this, and while there is certainly some truth to that, I think part of the reason "Day Shift" is so effective is because it knows how to use both action and dialogue to further the plot and character development. For example, after Jamie Foxx's character finally kills the vampire, he has a hilariously dry exchange with his partner about how he "thought she was going to turn into a bat or something." It is moments like these that elevate "Day Shift," over other movies of the same genre.

Day Shift is a movie so bad that it's funny. It is clear what they were trying and yet they fail so badly. The acting is wooden, the dialogue is stilted, and the plot is full of holes. Yet, somehow I enjoyed it. Maybe it's because it was vampire movies I love, or maybe it is because I just like bad movies. Day Shift was a fun movie. While it isn't a great movie, it's very entertaining. That's all I need from a movie of this quality.

Day Shift is a mixed film. On one hand, there is a lot of fun action scenes and some fun characters (the two brothers and Seth), but on the other hand the villain was horrible, a lot of mediocre characters, though I guess that helps the better characters shine even more. There seemed to be missing scenes that were cut. Bud's neighbor behaves like she's a friend, even though she only had three minutes of screen time before the final scene. Bud started making prank phone call after she got to work at the gas station. This was the best part of the movie. It was funny, and it was a great movie. The movie's rest was not as enjoyable. So, overall, I'd say that Day Shift is a mixed bag. Some parts are great, and some parts are terrible. However, if you want to have some fun, there are Day Shift starring Snoop Dogg better movies than this one.

Snoop Dogg almost got lost in my thoughts. He's fantastic in Day Shift. It's worth the entire movie to watch him. His character is funny and he has great lines. But more than that, he's just so natural in the role. It's as if he was made for the role.
